“Recipients of the 2014 Arts, Culture and Entertainment

Award, Italian Heritage Awards of Distinction”

For over 30 years, the Sons of Italy Choir has kept alive the traditions of its Italian roots through the singing of traditional, contemporary, and classical music throughout our community. Formed in 1989, The Sons of Italy Choir is a mixed voice community choir with men and women joining from all areas of Hamilton. It has expanded considerably since the early days, and continues to grow in membership each year.

It began with support from The Sons of Italy Trieste Lodge, Hamilton, in its early years of growth. The singers are pleased to have Angelo Venditti as current President and Artistic Director and through his leadership and musical talent, continues to be a driving force for its success. Members of the Executive team work together in support of the choir’s activities.

SERVING THE COMMUNITY:

The singers promote the Italian culture through a rich blend of Italian opera, regional Italian music, international, contemporary pop and much more. Over the past 25 years, The Sons of Italy Choir has not only carried The Sons of Italy name throughout the Hamilton community, but also into other Ontario cities such as Sudbury, Toronto, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Brantford, Galt, Guelph, and Kingston.

The choir rehearses and presents their annual Christmas and Spring concerts at the Sons of Italy Hall in Hamilton with the addition of an Italian-style dinner and some late night dancing – a celebratory night that often sees a sell-out show.

Each season, the choir is in great demand for performances at business functions, retirement and nursing homes, festivals, church or other charity events throughout the Hamilton- Burlington region.

OUR GOAL:

To promote Italian heritage and culture through music and song in the community and beyond.

The Lucia Sanmartin Memorial fund

The Sons and Daughters of Italy Choir created this fund in  Memory of our great choir member Lucia Sanmartin.

The choir donates a monetary award to an elementary school towards their music program. This reward goes towards the purchase of more musical instruments, so that more children will have an opportunity to discover the Joy of Music. Your donation will help tremendously in this worthy cause.
