St. John Place

St John Place located at 20 Emerald StreetNorth was built in 1974 and purchased by the Sons of Italy (Hamilton) Housing Corporation in February 1981 from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. St.John Place is a brick clad building comprising of 230 apartment units and 33,050 square feet of commercial space facing King Street East and three levels of underground parking. Amenity space includes a social room, indoor swimming pool, saunas, rooftop tennis court and laundry facilities. The residental component consist of 115 one-bedroom units and is considered a family development, although many residents are senior citizens. The Ontario March of Dimes provides a 24-hour a day support service to 17 residents. These units have been modified for the physical challenged.
