Housing Corporation The Sons Of Italy
(Hamilton) Housing Corporation, which operates five subsidized housing
projects to meet the needs of families, seniors and persons with disabilities.
These projects include 349 apartments and 146 family homes and townhouses.
Working with agencies such as the March of Dimes and the Visiting homemakers
Association, the Housing Corporation has introduced innovative supportive
housing programs for a variety of need groups over the years |

St John Place located at 20 Emerald StreetNorth was built in 1974 and purchased by the Sons of Italy (Hamilton) Housing Corporation in February 1981 from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. St.John Place is a brick clad building comprising of 230 apartment units and 33,050 square feet of commercial space facing King Street East and three levels of underground parking. Amenity space includes a social room, indoor swimming pool, saunas, rooftop tennis court and laundry facilities. The residental component consist of 115 one-bedroom units and is considered a family development, although many residents are senior citizens. The Ontario March of Dimes provides a 24-hour a day support service to 17 residents. These units have been modified for the physical challenged. |

Columbus Place, constructed in 1993 is a 62-unit brick clad family apartment complex with underground parking. The building is comprised of 9 one-bedroom units, 46 two-bedroom units and 7 three-bedroom units. Amenity space includes a social room for the residents and laundry facilities. |

Trieste Place is a 40-unit brick clad townhouse project located at 317 Limeridge Road West. The Sons of Italy (Hamilton) Housing Corporation constructed it in 1984. Trieste Place is a family development consisting of 22 three-bedroom units with garages, 8 three-bedroom units with no grage and 10 two-bedroom units of which two are modified for the physically challenged. |

Da Vinci Place constructed in 1994 is an 83-unit family townhouse project located at 55 Towercrest Drive, Hamilton. This project is brick and aluminium clad and consists of 9 two-bedroom apartments, 17 two-bedroom townhouse units and 57 three-bedroom townhouse units with garages. Amenity space includes laundry facilities. |

Villa Verdi is a 57-unit apartment complex located at 20 Jervis Street, Hamilton. This barrier free building was completed in 1990 and was constructed with architectural block. The project was built in cooperation with the Ontario March of Dimes, who provides 24-hour care services to 24 physically challenged residents. The unit composition is as follows: 20 one-bedroom modified units, 8 two-bedroom units and 4 two-bedroom modified units. Amenity space includes a social room, activity room and laundry facilities. |
In 1984 the Sons of Italy (Hamilton) Housing
Corporation purchased 23 Single Family Homes in central Hamilton. These
houses vary in construction and cladding and consist of two, three and
four bedroom homes, which were renovated at the time of purchase. |
